I am new to posts and blogs so please forgive if I did not post this exactly right. Just trying to get help while being railroaded by the City of Austin!

I in live in Williamson county on a ranch in Austin Texas. This is county land that the City of Austin has taken by extra territorial jurisdiction or ETJ. I had a rural route address until a year ago when I was “given” a City of Austin address. I run a small boat and rv storage on my ranch that brings in a little extra income.

I brought in (about 3 years ago) some rock aggregate so the boats and rv’s would not get stuck on an area of about 50 yards by 70 yards. A new subdivision has just been developed (adjoining my ranch)and while the city inspectors were inspecting the new houses they saw the gravel and boats and rv’s that were on my property. Needless to say they were not happy that I would dare start a business without paying for a permit to keep said boats and rv’s. The inspectors also told me that I would have to move said boats because it was in a 100 year flood plain.

The inspectors then told me if I did not get permit and move the site to a different location on my ranch that I could be and would be fined several thousand dollars per day. THIS IS NOT RIGHT…

I could use some ideas as to what to do next.

    Fantastic closing argument, Marc.
I would have been thrilled to be in the room to capture a priceless Master Card moment. How did they receive it? Were they squirming; hanging their heads in shame?

  4. Marc Stevens Says:

Thanks, I was really not expecting to do it. I would have liked to have been there also, Yeoman and I were both on the phone. I’d imagine they were waiting for the opportunity to hang the phone up. The health dept. attorney waived closing arguments for whatever that’s worth.

  5. Dan Says:

This might start catching like wildfire. I applaud you sir.

  6. paulo Says:

Why bleeping? i can clearly hear that the name is alexander, and their legal problems were reported in several austin newspapers (though your involvement was not).

  7. Marc Stevens Says:

Only because he asked me, and I guess I’m not very good at audio editing.

  8. Incubus Says:

So what happened with this? Did Yeoman eventually “win”?

  9. Marc Stevens Says:

I believe because they are not trying to collect the fine he did “win”. He’s continued doing what he was doing and they have left him alone.
