    Shut up Peter!

  2. Incubus Says:

    Seriously. Is this Schiff dude retarded just an asshole?

  3. FreedomSchool.org Says:

    This interview reminds me of Robert LeFevre’s excerpt from his book “A Way To Be Free” where he totally destroys the arguments that Peter brings up.

    A Way To Be Free

  4. Gary Freedom Says:

    Was Schiff deliberately missing the point? He kept circling back to the “national defense”/”free-rider” canard that authoritarians use as their last line of defense, when all other arguments in defense of statism have been exposed for the fallacies they are.

    For those who are interested in this subject, a good source for background information is the book: “The Myth of National Defense”

    http://www.amazon.com/Myth-National-Defense-Hans-Hermann-Hoppe/dp/0945466374

    If private police can ensure the security of Disney World (and they do), and private mercenaries can provide security for U.S. embassies in far-off lands (which they do), then why can’t a private militia provide for the common defense of a town, a city, or even a whole continent?

    Honestly, think about it. What size region is too big, that a private, voluntary, for-profit system of security provision, suddenly fails to function? In other words, how big does Disney World have to get, before their private police force is unable to protect the patrons in their park?

    If Disney added another 10 acres, would their security disintegrate? What about 100 acres? Or 1000? Couldn’t they just expand security, as their needs increased?

    And isn’t this something that each of us–each individual–does already? When a rash of break-ins strikes our neighborhood, we install a security system, or buy a Doberman. When we walk alone in a dangerous part of town, we may carry a can of pepper spray, or a firearm, or perhaps just get a good friend to accompany us.

    The same argument…that certain things are “public goods” which can only be provided by a group of people calling themselves “government,” who force everyone else to pay for their compulsory “services” by threats of physical violence…this very same argument has been used to justify a monopoly on (to name just three):

    –Mail (fallacy debunked by FedEx and UPS)
    –Roads (fallacy debunked by 19th-century North American turnpikes, as well as modern private communities maintaining their own roads)
    –Justice (fallacy debunked by the proliferation of private arbitration agencies in contemporary society, not to mention numerous historical examples of non-“government” alternatives)

    In summary, what Peter Schiff doesn’t know about how free individuals solve societal problems, without enslaving one another, would fill a library. But you can start with just that one book:

  5. Neil Says:

    I wish Peter would stop interrupting his guests when they’re talking. Marc was courteous enough to allow Peter to speak, but Peter hardly ever allows that of others. Don’t get me wrong, I like Peter, he’s a good guy all in all, but every time I hear the man talk– with anyone– he always ALWAYS cuts them off. I find that to be impolite.

    Peter suffers greatly from the “I am right and you’re wrong” syndrome. I think this is what causes him to interrupt so much because he needs to hear his own voice of reason. Regardless of the facts, Peter sees his world map as the only map, enough so that he will blinker his view from the very real fact that governments do not, will not, and have no intention of, protecting himself, Marc or anyone else.

    It is very difficult to argue your position when you aren’t permitted to speak.

  6. damon Says:

    I would of asked Peter;

    “Well what if the ‘government’ is inefficient and wasteful and I NO LONGER want its protection, which I view as injurious to my rights and a usurper of any delegated authority ‘it’ assumes I gave it.

    “Can I not just undelegate any presumed authority”? If not why not? And if not how does this not violate the 13 Amendment (slavery and involuntary servitude) and the 1st Amendment (compelled association). I mean obviously Peter if the ‘government’ is one of enumerated and delgated powers that originated from ‘We the People” then clearly I must have the exact same powers or I could not have delegated them to begin with. Isn’t it a maxim that “The power derived cannot be greater from which it is derived”? If you say I cannot provide for my own protection because I have found ‘government’ to be inefficient, does this not DENY me ‘equal protection of the law” mandated by the constitution and one of its foundational attributes? How can it claim to be ‘protecting” me while simultaneously denying me equal protection of the law?

    Since the Declaration of Independance (which is identified as the ‘organic law’ of this country by the House of Representatives) states ” That to secure these rights governments are instituted among men deriving their just powers from the CONSENT of the governed”. Does this mean that anything non-conseual is inherently unjust and can be considered a trespass against my life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness and should be defended with whatever means necessary?

    Why can I not just be responsible for my own protection? How is it any different from a mafia if I no longer want ‘protection’ yet they still try to force me to pay for that protection. Can I not delgate or decide whom I want to protect me? If not, why not.

    I could go on and on.

  7. damon Says:

    They define government as a fiction in their own legal encyclopedias for crying out loud. It does NOT exist. It is an idea.;

    38 Corpus Juris Secundum (C.J.S. ) [Legal Encyclopedia]

    “…’government’ has been defined as a body politic, a state; a corporate entity through which the people act; a fictitious entity created by the people…”

    [38 Corpus Juris Secundum (C.J.S. ) [Legal Encyclopedia]]

    What we are really talking about here is religions, not governments. I have stated this before. It is a ‘belief’ in a ficticious entity having control over your life with rewards and punishments with obedience to its laws. It is people acting on behalf of this entity wanting you to pay tribute to its pagan ‘god’ called the ‘state’. It is a ‘civil religion’ and it is called socialism

    The courts are temples/churches where ‘worship services’ are held.

    The ‘judges’ are the ‘priests’.

    Attorney licensing is a method of ‘ordaining’ new members into this civil religion, because the ‘Chief priests’ in the supreme court are the ones who do the ‘ordaining’.

    A ‘license’, which is an ordination, to “practice law” from the “Chief Priests” is the method by which “Deacons” , are ordained into the religion so that they are qualified to conduct “worship services” in the state “Church” aslo called the court.

    Court hearings function as “Worship services” for the civil religion and the jury are the church choir that entertains the priest and the congregation by doing what they are told by the judge.

    Entering “pleas” amounts to “confession” to their pagan god to which they decide the monetary value of the tribute you shall pay to be forgiven of your “sin”.

    Our ‘public servants’ have turned “law” from an instrument of justice to protect PRIVATE individual rights to an instrument of propaganda, usurptation, and conquest that only protects collective rights, also called “public rights” by portraying what is actually “private law” as “public law” and thereby decieving soveriegn and free people into obedience to ‘laws’ that otherwise have no jurisdiction over them.

    The United States national and state governments over the last 100 years have transitioned from the role of “protector” to “predator” and are NO LONGER entitled to our allegience, DOMICILE, obedience, subsidy, support, or obedience because of the above facts.

    Isaiah 40:23
    New King James Version (NKJV)

    23 He brings the princes to nothing;
    He makes the judges of the earth useless.

    Isaiah 30:8-14
    New King James Version (NKJV)

    A Rebellious People
    8 Now go, write it before them on a tablet,
    And note it on a scroll,
    That it may be for time to come,
    Forever and ever:
    9 That this is a rebellious people,
    Lying children,
    Children who will not hear the law of the LORD;
    10 Who say to the seers, “Do not see,”
    And to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things;
    Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.
    11 Get out of the way,
    Turn aside from the path,
    Cause the Holy One of Israel
    To cease from before us.”

    12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel:

    “ Because you despise this word,
    And trust in oppression [poloticians] and perversity[governments],
    And rely on them,
    13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you
    Like a breach ready to fall,
    A bulge in a high wall,
    Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant[economic catastrophes/bailouts].
    14 And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter’s vessel,
    Which is broken in pieces;
    He shall not spare.
    So there shall not be found among its fragments
    A shard to take fire from the hearth,
    Or to take water from the cistern.”

    Government cannot be a ‘lawgiver’ for Christians;

    Isaiah 33:22
    New King James Version (NKJV)

    22 (For the LORD is our Judge,
    The LORD is our Lawgiver,
    The LORD is our King;
    He will save us);

    [SEDM Socialism: The new American civil Religion]

  8. Jonathan Says:

    So, Peter is cool with using force, as long as he “benefits” from it. Sounds like he’s morally inconsistent. He also likes to cut people off when they try and answer his questions. Not very professional.
